How to use CabuTally, step by step: events, expenses, settling up.
Getting started
- Create an event and invite people
Start a new event, add the people coming, and send everyone one link or a QR code so they can join without an account.
- Join an event without an account
Open the link or scan the QR code someone sent you, pick your name or type a new one, and you are in the event. No signup needed.
- Keep your seat on another phone
Use your recovery link or an account to open an event on a new phone or browser as the same person, with your name, expenses and share.
- Add people who haven't joined yet
Put a friend on the event as a placeholder, split expenses with them now, and send them a personal link to take their spot later.
Expenses
- Add an expense and split it unevenly
Log what someone paid, choose who shares it, and split it equally, by shares or by exact amounts.
- Collect a kitty before the trip
Ask everyone to send the same amount to one person before anything is spent, see who has sent it, and let the leftover settle itself.
- Expenses in another currency
Log an expense in the currency you paid in, check or correct the rate, and have it count in the event's currency.
- Private expenses and who sees what
Keep a side cost visible only to the people on it, and see who can read which expenses and debts.
Settling up
- See what you owe and mark a payment received
Check who you owe and who owes you, pay each other your usual way, then record the payment so the balance goes down.
- Wrap up, settle and close the books
Take your event through a final review, lock the expenses while people pay, and file it away as done. Every step can be undone.
Planning together
- The to-do list: who brings what
Keep one shared list of things to do, bring or book, see who is on each one, log what it cost and tick it off when it is done.
- Use CabuTally in Claude
Connect CabuTally to Claude, then plan an event, split a bill, add expenses and see who owes what from a chat.
The Event Pass
- The Event Pass: what it unlocks and who can buy it
Learn what an Event Pass adds to one event, who can buy it, and what always stays free.
