The Event Pass: what it unlocks and who can buy it

An Event Pass is one payment that unlocks extra features for one event, for everyone in it. Anyone in the event with an account can buy it, view-only people included, in the app in a browser or in the Android app.
- Open an offer. Where buying is offered, a paid feature in a free event has a small PRO mark. Tap it, or tap the PRO mark in the event’s top bar, or the unlock button in the capacity section of the event’s settings.
- Read what it adds. The screen lists only what this event does not have yet.
- If you host the event, the screen also offers Pro. Choose the Event Pass.
- Choose whether the group sees that you unlocked it. This is on at the start.
- If it is offered, choose whether to add the Pass to the event as a shared expense, and untick anyone who should not share it. The expense is added once the payment is confirmed.
- Tick the box to accept the terms for paid features, then tap the unlock button. It shows the price.
- Complete the payment. The app then confirms that the event is unlocked.
What a Pass unlocks
- Room for more people: a free event holds up to 8, a Pass raises it to 50. Everyone on the event’s list counts, including people who haven’t joined yet.
- Spreadsheet export of the event (CSV)
- A PDF report of the event
- A saved default split for new expenses
- Adding the event to your calendar
- Photos: receipt photos on expenses, and your own cover image and icon for the event
What always stays free
Joining, adding expenses, every way of splitting, private expenses, settling and payments, the kitty, the to-do list, the activity log, other currencies, the recap card, payment reminders, reading archived events, roles, emoji icons and cover patterns, and seeing photos that others added.
Who can buy it
- Anyone in the event with an account, whatever their role. If you do not have an account yet, the screen asks you to create one first. Your account keeps every event you are already in. See Keep your seat on another phone.
- You can buy it at any stage of the event, even after the books are closed.
- Nobody ever pays to join an event. If an event is full, the person joining is asked to tell the host, never to pay.
Good to know
- The Pass belongs to the event, not to you. It never expires, and it stays if you leave the event or delete your account.
- The event’s settings show that the event is unlocked, and by whom if you chose to be shown.
- If the event is already unlocked, the screen says there is nothing to unlock.
- If a refund is made, the Pass ends. Nothing already in the event is removed. If you added the Pass as a shared expense, delete that expense yourself.
